Martabe gold mine provides $30m revenue for government

PT Agincourt Resources, the owner and operator of the Martabe gold mine in South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province, stated that in 2015 the company contributed payments to the central government totaling US$30 million comprising of tax, royalties and rent, an increase from previous year of $28.1 million.
In addition, Katarina Siburian Hardono, Corporate Communications Senior Manager of the firm said in a statement Thursday that the Martabe gold mine paid the 5 percent dividend to the North Sumatera provincial government and South Tapanuli regency administration amounting to $250,000 in 2015.
Katharina added that based on stakeholder consultation, special studies and industry benchmarking, the company has targeted six main areas for delivering support to the local communities, including health, education, agriculture, public infrastructure, local business and economic development, and social and cultural identity. "In 2015, we spent $1.26 million on community development programs," she said.
