Marubeni eyes PLTGU Jawa-Bali III project

Japan?s Marubeni Corp is eying the PLTGU Jawa-Bali III combined-cycle power plant project as it aims to grab more power plant projects in Indonesia, Kontan reported on Thursday.
The paper quoted Hisahiro Takeuchi, General Manager and COO Officer of Power Project Group at Marubeni, as saying that the company was hoping to be able to partner again with Indonesia?s state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina in the upcoming tender for the 500 MW PLTGU Jawa-Bali III peaker power plant project. ?This is one of the projects that we?re targeting,? he said.
A consortium comprising of Pertamina, Marubeni and Sojitz Corp has been appointed by the government to develop the 2x800 MW PLTGU Jawa I combined-cycle power plant project in West Java. The consortium is currently in the process of reaching financing close for the project following the signing of a power purchase agreement with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN early this week.
Ginanjar, Vice President for Power, New and Renewable Energy at Pertamina?s Gas Directorate, said his company has yet to decide whether to participate in the tender of the PLTGU Jawa-Bali III project.
I Made Suprateka, Head of Corporate Communications at PLN, said that tender for the PLTGU Jawa-Bali III and 250 MW PLTGU Riau peaker will soon be held. The tender was supposed to be implemented in July of last year but was delayed to various reasons.(*)
