Marubeni, Komipo, Samtan, IMEI enter into MoU for development of Cirebon 3 power plant

Marubeni Coporation (Marubeni) said Tuesday it has agreed with Korea Midland Power Co., Ltd. (Komipo), Samtan Co., Ltd. (Samtan), and PT. Indika Energi Internasional (IMEI) to jointly develop the Cirebon 3 Coal Fired Power Plant (1,000MW) in the area adjacent to the Cirebon Coal Fired Power Plant Project and the Cirebon 2 Coal Fired Power Plant Project, which is under construction in the district of Cirebon, located in West Java Province.
Marubeni said in a statement it entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Komipo, Samtan, and IMEI for the development of this project on May 16, 2016.
The Government of Indonesia has set a target to provide an additional 35GW of power capacity by 2019. As a result, there is a high expectation for overseas IPP developers to supply power to meet an increasing demand under the growing economy. Marubeni and other consortium companies will continue to contribute to stable power supply and economic development in Indonesia, it said.
In the power project market, Marubeni has expanded its power generation assets to over 10GW in 22 countries, including Japan. Marubeni is committed to contributing to the development of infrastructure in Asian countries by utilizing its extensive experience and know-how.
