Japanese firm Marubeni Corporation will expand its steam power plant in Cirebon, West Java, with an additional generation capacity of 1,000 megawatt (MW).
"We already operate a steam power plant in Cirebon. We want to expand its generation capacity by building a new one, at a capacity of 1,000 MW,? Marubeni Corporate Advisor Wataru Yoshida told the press at the industry ministry?s office building in Jakarta on Thursday.
He was interviewed by the press after meeting with Industry Minister MS Hidayat. During the meeting he also talked with the minister about Marubeni?s plan to expand the power plant in Cirebon with an additional generation capacity of 1,000 MW..
But the energy and mineral resources ministry?s Electricity Director General Djarman told petromindo.com in Jakarta on Friday that Marubeni has yet to file a proposal on the power plant expansion to the ministry of energy and mineral resources.
"It?s true that Marubeni will build the additional power plant in Cirebon. But formally, there has been no proposal as yet filed by Marubeni to the electricity directorate general,? said Djarman. ?We?re still waiting for their proposal on the expansion,? said Djarman, without giving any further details on the plan of Marubeni.
