Masdar, PLN plan floating solar power plant

UAE renewable energy firm Masdar is teaming up with state electricity firm to conduct feasibility study to build floating solar panel power plant in a dam in West Java.

PLN?s Planning Director Nicke Widyawati told reporters on Tuesday that the study will focus on cutting generation cost. ?By using dam area, there will be no cost for land acquisition,? she said.

The dam is located in Cirata. PLN will assign its subsidiary PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali to team up with Masdar.

Masdar is a unit of UAE sovereign investment company Mubadala Investment Company.
