IDX-listed PT Mitrabahtera Segara Sejati Tbk (MBSS), which is primarily engaged in coal transport business, reported that revenue in the first nine-month period ending September of this year rose by 8.5 percent to US$112.1 million from $103.3 million in the same period of last year.
MBSS Corporate Secretary Patricius Prabantara said late last week that revenue of the barging business grew by 5.1 percent to $81.9 million during the period, while revenue of the floating crane business increased by 18.9 percent to $30.2 million.
?The increase in the revenue was also a result of the expansion of the company?s vessel fleet including barges from 72 sets to 75, and floating cranes from six units to 7,? Patricius said.
Going forward, the company will further diversify the commodities it transports, reducing dependency on coal, in a bid to help balance risk and maintain revenue growth,? he said.
In 2013, the company also transported iron ores, bauxite, and pipes. ?We?ll intensify this going forward,? he said.
