MBSS, Straits Asia?s units in coal transportation deal

Integrated coal transport & logistics services company PT Mitrabahtera Segara Sejati (MBSS) has bagged a coal transportation agreement with Singapore-listed firm Straits Asia Resources? coal mines unit in Kalimantan.

Under the deal, MBSS has loaded and transported by barges from South Kalimantan coal miner PT Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku?s loading terminal at Tanjung Kepala, Sebuku Island, to designed transshipment point at Sebuku anchorage and Tanjung Mangkok anchorage, or from the loading terminal of East Kalimantan coal miner PT Jembayan Muarabara to designed transshipment points at Muara Berau anchorage or Muara Java anchorage.

A guaranteed amount of coal from the group is 1 million tonnes a year. The deal is effective from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2012.

MBSS has also entered into a contract for loading coal onto gearless vessels with Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku and Jembayan Muarabara, in which MBSS make the loading of coal from the barge into the gearless vessels and the provision, operation and maintenance of one floating crane at his own expense to remove and unload coal at Samarinda and Sebuku Island.

A guarantee minimum amount of coal is 2.5 million tonnes a year. This agreement is effective from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011. (denny)
