MCI appoints new geothermal board, names Julfi Hadi president director

Energy company Mitra Cakrawala International (MCI Group) has appointed a new board for its geothermal business unit under MCI Renewables, including industry veteran Julfi Hadi as President Director.
According to information published on the company’s official website, the new leadership team also includes Ontowiryo Alamsyah as Chief Executive Officer and Muchamad Rangga Wirapsa as Chief of Corporate Affairs.
Julfi Hadi has more than 30 years of experience in the geothermal sector and has held senior positions at several international and Indonesian energy companies, including Chevron Corporation, Star Energy Geothermal and Medco Power Indonesia. He most recently served as president director of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk.

“MCI Renewables comes with a more agile character. We have the capability to accelerate development in ways that conventional models cannot. Our target going forward is to identify top-notch geothermal fields through the PSPE scheme,” Julfi said in a recent statement.
Rangga Wirapsa previously held a strategic role at Sarulla Operations Limited and has more than 13 years of experience in governance of large-scale geothermal projects.
Ontowiryo Alamsyah is a subsurface specialist with more than 30 years of technical experience in the energy sector.
MCI Renewables currently holds one geothermal asset, the Kepahiang geothermal working area in Bengkulu, which is being developed in cooperation with state electricity company PT PLN (Persero) under the Geothermal Exploration and Energy Conversion Agreement scheme.
The project has a targeted generation capacity of 110 megawatts.
