Coal mine and infrastructure company MEC Coal expects its subsidiary PT Tekno Orbit Persada (TOP) to start production in the second semester of this year.

Tjetjep Prasetya, External Affairs Head of MEC Coal told Petromindo.com on Friday that the company is still targeting only one million ton output from TOP in the first year?s production.

?We expect to start removing overburden in the second semester, which will be followed by production activity,? he said adding that currently the company is prepared itself for the activities.

TOP has a coal concession located in the district of Muara Wahau, East Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan. The coal concession is approximately 125 km northwest of the coastal town of Sangatta and covers 5,000 ha of lands. The mining concession is JORC (Joint Ore Reserves Committee) certified and has resources of 1.621 billion metric tons of environment-friendly coal.
