Integrated coal mine and infrastructure company MEC Coal expects its coal mining subsidiary PT Tekno Orbit Persada (TOP) to start production in the second quarter of this year.
Tjetjep Prasetya, Head of External Affairs at MEC Coal, told Petromindo.com that the company is only eyeing one million tons output in the first year of production.
?Now, we are ready to deploy all the equipment for starting production,? he said, adding that in short time the company will conduct overburden removal activity as all the licenses related to the mining activity have been obtained.
TOP has a coal concession located in the district of Muara Wahau, East Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. The coal concession is approximately 125 km North-West of the coastal town of Sangatta and covers 5,000 ha of mining land. The mining concession is JORC (Joint Ore Reserves Committee) certified and has resources of 1.621 billion metric tons of environment-friendly coal.
Another MEC Coal?s subsidiary, PT Trans Kutai Kencana (TKK) has secured the first ever Indonesian private rail license for the transport of coal to the export terminal. The heavy-haul railway is designed to operate as integrated coal delivery system from mine-to-vessel. The project will have approximately 130-Km in length of heavy-haul railway with 32.5 tons axle load. It will have the capacity of 36 MTPA (Million Tons Per Annum) with 30 percent surge and using diesel engine and aluminum wagons with bottom discharge.
MEC Coal?s through subsidiary PT Trans Kutai Bahari (TKB) will construct a deep water ship loading jetty at Muara Bengalon to facilitate coal exports on ocean-going vessels to facilitate cape-size vessel loading with the loading rate of 7,500 tph (Tons Per Hour) and all-weather integrated operations with more than 20 meters draft to enable cape-size loading.
