IDX-listed energy firm PT Medco Energi Internasional is preparing a cooperation plan with CBM Asia to develop a CBM concession in Rimau, South Sumatra, under which it wishes to hold a majority stake and operatorship.

"Medco will soon submit a request to the government for Medco and CBM Asia to jointly develop the CBM block in Rimau, Musi Banyu Asin," an industry source told petromindo.com.

The source did not mention the block, saying it will be officially announced once the request was granted. The block is scheduled for operation in 2014.

Separately, state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina stressed its cooperation intention with PT Sugico in CBM areas. Pertamina Director of Development Andriyansyah told petromindo.com that the collaboration will likely take place in CBM projects in Sumatra and Kalimantan.

Head of Unconventional Area of Work Sub-Directorate at the Energy and Mineral Resources Darwin Sirait said that Pertamina and Sugico are targeting CBM blocks in southern part of Sumatra.
