Medco drills dry hole in onshore S. Sumatra

IDX-listed energy firm PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk reported on Thursday that it had drilled dry hole in Kalisa-1 exploration well in Rimau PSC onshore South Sumatra.
The company said the Kalisa-1 well which was spudded on December 3, 2009 and drilled to a measured depth (MD) of 2,680 feet from the initial planned of 2,850 feet MD.
?However, no result showed from the well and the company plans to discontinue the activity. Hence, the well is plugged and abandoned,? the company said.
Meanwhile, the company also reported that it has drilled Raut-1 well also in Rimau PSC.
Until the end of January 2010, the company has drilled the well to the depth of 2,596 feet from planned to drill to a total of 3,000 feet and had not obtained any result yet. (denny)
