Medco: EOR program to up output by 20%

Indonesia listed PT Medco Energi Internasional expects an enhanced oil recovery (EOR) program at the Rimau Block in the Kaji Semoga field, South Sumatra, run by subsidiary PT Medco EP Indonesia to be able to increase oil production at the field by 20 percent.

Medco will be the first to successfully apply the tertiary technique EOR technology using chemicals (surfactant plus polymers).

?There?s indeed a plan by the vice minister (of energy and mineral resources) to visit the Kaji Semoga field to take a look into the Rimau EOR pilot project early next week. The pilot project is very important. If successful, Medco will become the first company to apply the tertiary technique EOR technology using chemicals (surfactant plus polymers), to increase recovery factor by up to 20 percent,? Medco Energi Internasional Corporate Secretary, Imron Ghazali told Petromindo.com over the weekend.

Imron said that Medco had successfully applied the primary and secondary recovery using the water-flooding technique.
