Medco eyeing gas distribution business

JSX-listed energy firm PT. Medco Energi International Tbk. is eyeing pipeline gas distribution in the industrial island of Batam, an industry source said.

The source that the company is might be applying to get gas distribution license from downstream regulatory body BPH Migas. BPH MIGAS Gas Director Saryono Hadiwidjoyo said he had heard about Medco?s plan, but thus far the company had not filed for formal license application.

Medco?s director Rashid Mangunkusumo declined to comment on the matter. (godang)
