Medco hopes to launch EOR project end of September

PT Medco EP Indonesia, a subsidiary of publicly-listed oil and gas firm PT Medco Energi Internasional, is making final preparations to launch an enhanced oil recovery (EOR) pilot project in Rimau block, in South Sumatra, at the end of September.

?The EOR (project) is currently at the preparation stage, hopefully to be ready by the end of this month,? Medco Director Eka Satria Djalins told Petromindo.com Wednesday.

As reported earlier, Medco is planning to implement the EOR technology, at the maturing Kaji Semoga field within the Rimau block, to help increase production which has been on a declining trend. Using the chemical flooding technology, the EOR project will be first applied at a few wells, and if proved successful and economically feasible, the company will apply it in the entire Kaji field, the largest in the Rimau block.
