Medco launches Panaran 2 gas-fired power plant

Publicly-listed PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk, through its wholly owned subsidiary, PT Medco Power Indonesia (MPI), launched Friday the operation of gas-fired power plant (PLTG) Panaran 2, in Batam.

PLTG Panaran 2 has 55.5 MW capacity with 2 gas turbine generators by Rolls Royce each with 27.75 MW capacity and 8 MW chiller equipment. The power plant uses gas supplied by the state-owned gas company PT PGN.

PGN will supply gas around 4.4 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD)

The PLTG is operated by MPI?s subsidiary, PT Dalle Energy Batam, which was established by MPI and PT Dalle Energi and PT Dalle Panaran. This is the second power plant that is constructed by MPI in Batam. The first power plant started its operation in 2004 by other MPI?s subsidiary, PT Mitra Energi Batam (MBE) with capacity of 2 x 27.75 MW located in Panaran 1. (denny)
