Medco Mining struggles to get permit from Forestry Ministry

PT Medco Energy Mining Internasional, a coal mining unit of Indonesian-listed energy firm PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk, said that it is still struggling to get land-used permit from Ministry of Forestry to develop its coal mine in Nunukan regency, East Kalimantan.

The company?s official told Petromindo.Com recently that the company expects to get the licenses within six month from end of March.

Medco plans to start coal production soon after obtaining the permit from the ministry, he said. ?We expect to produce around 500,000 tonnes of coal in the first year,? the official said.

The official said coal from Nunukan mine has CV of more than 7,000 Kcal/kg with high sulfur content (around 2%). (denny)
