North Kalimantan coal mining firm PT Duta Tambang Rekaya (DTR), a subsidiary of PT Medco Mining Internasional (MMI), aims to export 150,000 tons of high colorific value coal in the first quarter (Q1) of this year from its planned full-year output of 600,000 tons.
?In the first quarter, we?ll export 150kt from our capacity of 600 kt per year,? said Harry Kristiono Corporate Strategic and Commercial Vice President of MMI to Petromindo.com on Friday, but did not provide further details.
MMI in the past had been exporting to countries such as Thailand, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The company suspended production in January of last year due to the weak price environment and resumed production in September, resulting in 2016 coal output of only 150,000 tons.
Hary told this portal recently, that MMI through DTR plans to produce around 600,000 tons of coal this year from concession in Nunukan, North Kalimantan Province.
MMI, a subsidiary of IDX-listed PT Medco Energi International Tbk, owns DTR, which is producing coal with calorific value of 6,500 kcal/kg GAR.
