Medco, Mitsui try to increase production from Langsa TAC

JSX-listed energy firm Medco Energi Internasional will drill two development wells in Langsa TAC offshore North Sumatra to increase production from the oil field that had fallen recently to as low as 500BPD.

Medco E&P Director Budi Basuki told Petromindo.com that oil production from Langsa fell after one of the two producing wells had to be shut down due to due to technical trouble.

The new development wells, which are slated to be completed in two months time, would bring production to up to 5,000 BPD, Budi said. The Langsa TAC reached peak production of 6,000-7,000 BPD in early 2006.

Medco and a MOECO, a unit of Japan?s Mitsui is equal partner in Langsa TAC. (alex)
