Medco optimistic it will get Arun field from ExxonMobil

PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk is optimistic that it will get Arun field within Block B that will be divested by ExxonMobil Indonesia.

Medco considers Arun field as a strategic field as it could use the field?s infrastructure.

?Block A needs infrastructure to support its development. If we use the infrastructure in Block B, the development of Block A will be more efficient,? Medco Energi President Director, Hilmi Panigoro, told Petromindo.com on the sideline of World Renewable Energy Congress in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Hilmi said there is high level of CO2 in Block A. It needs reservoir to store the CO2. ?There are many empty fields in Block B that can be used as reservoir to store CO2 from Block A,? he said.

The goal of Medco is to develop Block A, replicating the success of Block B development. ?Block A offers untapped resources that have not been explored. Based on seismic survey, its potentials could be as big as Arun field,? said Hilmi. (godang)
