Medco Group plans to build a biomass-based power plant in Merauke, Papua, which is part of the company?s plan to develop a food estate project in the region.

?The project is currently at the feasibility study stage. We plan for 100 MW capacity,? Manager of Performance Management Asset Development Directorate at Medco, Taufik Rachman Sidik told Petromindo.com on the sidelines of Palembang Industrial Expo 2013 late last week.

Taufik said that the group is currently in talks with PLN on the electricity selling price. He, however, could not yet determine as to when the power plant will start commercial production.
