Medco Power wins Riau combined-cycle power plant project

Power company PT Medco Power Indonesia, a subsidiary of IDX-listed energy company PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk, last month won tender for the development and operation of a 250 MW PLTGU combined-cycle power plant in Riau Province, Kontan reported on Saturday.

The paper quoted Medco Power President Director Fazil Erwin Alfitri as saying that the company would team up with Thailand?s Ratchaburi in the Riau PLTGU project.

He said that discussion over the power purchase agreement with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN is expected to be concluded at the end of January 2017.

Medco Power currently operates a number of gas-fired power plants in the country. The company is also developing the 110 MW Ijen geothermal power plant, and at the stage of commissioning of the unit 1 of the Sarulla geothermal power plant. Medco is also participating in a tender for the Jawa-Bali III PLTGU combined cycle power plant project with capacity of 500 MW. The company through subsidiary PT Sangsaka Agro Lestari is also developing micro hydro power plants in 17 locations with combined capacity of 98.3 MW. ?We?ll focus on clean and renewable (energy), not PLTU (coal-fired power plant), Fazil said.
