IDX-listed energy company PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk said that its indirect coal subsidiary PT Duta Tambang Rekayasa has resumed production activity at its mine in Nunukan, North Kalimantan Province.

?We have resumed coal production activity,? said Medco President Director Hilmi Panigoro last week.

He said that Duta Tambang will maintain the current production capacity. He did not provide further details.

Duta Tambang, a subsidiary of PT Medco Energi Mining Internasional, suspended production activity last year due to the weak coal price. Hilmi said in July of this year that the company will resume production if its coal price recovers to beyond US$50 per ton.

The Nunukan mine last year only produced 350,000 tons of coal, out of the target of 600,000 tons.
