Medco?s Cibalapulang mini hydropower plant to operate end May 2014

The Cibalapulang-1 mini hydropower plant in Sukabumi, West Java, which is developed by PT Medco Power Indonesia (MPI) is projected to start commercial operation late May of this year, according to a top official of the firm.
MPI?s President Director Fazil E. Alfitri told Petromindo.com on Thursday that the 3x3 MW power plant project has been almost completed and is expected to be onstream in the end of May 2014.
?Currently the project is heading to mechanical combustion phase, that is to install the turbine and generator,? he said.
The firm is also developing four other mini hydropower plants, all located in West Java, namely PLTMH Cibalapulang-2 and PLTMH Cibalapulang-3 and PLTMH Parahyangan-1 and PLTMH Parahyangan-3 which are expected to come onstream next year.
In addition, MPI is also building several mid-size power plants that will come onstream later this year this year, including among others the expansion unit (30 MW) of PLTG Panaran I and PLTG Tanjung Uncang (70 MW) gas fired power plants, both located on Batam Island. Both power plant projects are expected to come onstream in September this year.
Medco Power is 51 percent owned by equity firm Saratoga Capital.
