Medco?s power plant in Batam inaugurated

Acting Governor of Riau Islands, Nurdin Basirun, inaugurated on Monday the operation of a new 70 MW gas-fired power plant in Batam owned by PT Energi Listrik Batam (Batam), an indirect subsidiary of IDX-listed integrated energy company PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk.
Nurdin welcomes the new power plant that would increase electricity supply in Batam and neighboring Bintan Island. He added that the administration would support the development of power projects in the province including facilitating land acquisition process.
Meanwhile, Fazil Erwin Alfitri, CEO of Medco Power Indonesia, the parent of ELB, said that the gas-fired power plant is an environmentally friendly facility. Going forward, the company will build more gas-fired power plants as part of the company?s commitment to support the environmentally friendly energy campaign.
