Medco sees 1st gas from S. Sumatra field Oct 09

IDX-listed energy firm PT.Medco Energi Internasional Tbk said that Singa field in Lematang PSC onshore South Sumatra would start gas production in October this year.

The company said gas production facilities are under construction and has been 90 percent completed.

Singa-3 and Singa-4 wells to be completed by end August 2009, the company said in a presentation filed with the IDX.

Lematang has contract to supply 50MMCFD of gas to state electricity firm PLN?s power plant in western part of Java for 9 year. Production start up, however, is subject to availability of pipeline capacity to West Java, the company said.

Gas from Singa would be piped through a pipeline grid operated by state gas distribution firm PGN.

Medco is the operator of Lematang PSC with 74 percent interest.(denny)
