IDX-listed PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk announced on Wednesday that it is drilling an offshore exploration well, called Grupa-1, in the Senoro-Toili block in Central Sulawesi.
The well was spudded on Sept. 14, 2014, the firm said in a statement, adding that the drilling aims to find new gas source to support the Senoro project.
The block is owned by JOB Pertamina-Medco E&P Tomori Sulawesi.
The block is among the blocks that will supply gas to the Donggi-Senoro LNG (DSLNG) plant now under construction.
The DSLNG plant is owned by the consortium of Medco, Pertamina, and Japanese firm Mitsubishi Corporation. The plant will have a total production capacity of 2.1 million tons per annum, and will obtain its gas supply from the Senoro and Matindok gas fields.
