Medco still waiting for AMDAL permit to develop E. Kalimantan coal concession

Indonesia coal mining company PT Duta Tambang Sumber Alam (DTSA), a subsidiary of PT Medco Energi Mining International, is still in the process of obtaining the necessary environmental permit (also known here as AMDAL) for the operation of its coal mine concession in Simenggaris, Nunukan Regency, East Kalimantan.

Budi Basuki, Chief Operating Officer of Power, Mining & Downstream at IDX-listed PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk, the holding company, told Petromindo.com on Thursday that all of the requirements for obtaining the permit have been fulfilled by the company.

"We are still waiting for the license," he said, adding that the license is expected to be obtained as soon as possible.

"If all of the licenses have been obtained, we expect to commence production from DTSA by early 2015," he said.
