After recently completing a drill steam test (DST) at the Matang-1 exploration well within the Block A PSC in East Aceh, block operator PT Medco E&P Indonesia plans to carry out a 3D seismic activity to further map out the detailed prospect of the gas resources.
Medco E&P Indonesia, a subsidiary of IDX-listed energy concern PT Medco Energi Internasional, struck gas in Block A. Based on the DST, the block is believed to contain huge gas resources estimated at 100-400 bcf.
?We plan to carry out 3D seismic at Matang to map out the prospect in more detail. With the successful DST, we see the (gas) resource as quite productive. We estimate it (the gas resources) at 100-400 bcf,? Director of Planning at Medco E&P Indonesia, Eka Satria Djalins told Petromindo.com Monday.
Eka added that in terms of marketing the gas from Block A, Medco has signed an MoU with PT Pertagas, a trading subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina,
Medco also plans to develop the Alur Siwah and Alur Rambong fields next year to help further expand development of the Block A PSC.
