JSX-listed energy firm PT.Medco Energi Internasional will drill three exploration wells in Rimau PSC, onshore South Sumatra next year.
Deputy GM Rimau Assets Irfan Sidik Dozyn told reporters on a site visit on Monday that the wells would be drilled in an effort to increase the block?s reserves.
Dozyn said Rimau block, which main producing field is the maturing Kaji-Semoga field, may not be able to produce crude at the targeted volume of 30,000 BPD in 2007 due to non technical factors such as land acquisition problems. Up to November, the block has produced 27,600 BPD of crude.
In 2008, the block is budgeted to produce 29,000 BPD of crude.
Medco is currently studying the possibility to apply EOR using chemical surfactant in Rimau to enhance the block?s production.(godang)
