Medco to spend Rp 4 billion to explore Sesayap field

Medco and its partner Pertamina will spend at least Rp 4 billion to explore the Sesayap BI oil field in the Senkoang village, Tarakan, East Kalimantan, according to the company's spokesman Djani Ruslan.

Djani said that the spending would cover all activities including the construction of a rig, oil pipe and other exploration activities except those for the compensation of land near the rig location.

"The exploration activities are scheduled to be commenced in late April, next year " he said, adding that the company was currently preparing the environmental management of the gas field in cooperation with the Bogor Agriculture Institute (IPB).

Medco, also in a joint operation with Pertamina, will also begin exploration activities at the South Sembakung gas field in Nunukan East Kalimantan, next year. (*)
