Medco to start drilling at Ijen geothermal project in 2014

PT Medco Power Indonesia plans to start drilling program at its geothermal development project in Ijen, East Java, in 2014, according to company Chief Business Development Officer, Noor Wahyu Hidayat.
?The drilling will be conducted at three of the four points that we have determined as the location for drilling,? he told Petromindo.com recently.
He said that prior to carrying out the drilling program, the company would first build the necessary infrastructure facilities, complete land acquisition, and obtain the necessary permits.
Medco plans to develop a geothermal power project in the area. A power purchase agreement with state utility PLN was signed in February. The company expects the 2x55 MW geothermal power plant to start commercial operation in 2015.
