Medco E&P Indonesia will start oil production at its Tiaka field in Central Sulawesi next week, a company official said Tuesday.

Company president director Lukman Makhfoed said oil production would be started at a rate of between 3,000 and 4,000 barrels per day.

Oil from Tiaka is expected to be lifted by October or November this year, Lukman added.

Tiaka oil field is located within Senoro-Toili block. Medco E&P operates the block under a joint operating body with state-owned oil and gas PT Pertamina.

The field is certified to contain about 5.5 million barrels of gross proved and probable oil reserves. (godang)
