Medco to start W. Java mini-hydro power plant ops

PT Medco Power, a subsidiary of IDX-listed energy firm PT Meco Energi Internasional Tbk will start operations of its Cibalapulang mini-hydro power plant in West Java end of July.
Medco Power CEO Fazil Alkatiri told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that the construction of the 3x3 MW power plant has been delayed for months due to heavy rains.
According to Fazil, Medco will sell electricity from the power plant to state electricity firm PLN at Rp.660 per kwh, or about 5.5 US cents.
He also added that Medco is also in the process of constructing the second and third units of the power plants in the same river.
