Medcoenergi entrusted by the Government to manage Nawasena block

(20 May 2026) -- The Indonesian Government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (KESDM), has entrusted PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MedcoEnergi) with the management of the Nawasena oil and gas Working Area. The signing of the Cooperation Contract was announced during the 50th Indonesia Petroleum Association Convention and Exhibition at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), BSD City, on Wednesday (20/5).

The Nawasena Working Area covers approximately 7,031 km² of onshore and offshore territory in East Java Province. Through its subsidiary, PT Medco Energi Nawasena, MedcoEnergi will act as the operator under a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) cost recovery scheme.

Nawasena is located near MedcoEnergi’s existing operating areas, namely the PSC Sampang and PSC Madura Offshore PSCs, enabling the rapid monetization of Nawasena’s resources through existing infrastructure.
