Medical Suites topping off at Banten SEZ, targets Rp18.8 trillion investment

Construction of the Medical Suites building at the KEK ETKI Banten reached the topping-off stage on Friday, marking completion of the main structure as the project moves toward operations targeted in September 2026.

The facility is being developed by PT Surya Inter Wisesa, part of Sinar Mas Land, as part of an integrated health, research and education ecosystem within the 59.68-hectare special economic zone in BSD City.

The zone focuses on healthcare, international education, digital technology and creative industries, and is designed to attract both domestic and foreign investment through fiscal and non-fiscal incentives.

The Medical Suites building sits on a 9,300 square meter site with total floor space of 19,800 square meters and consists of two six-storey towers. Construction progress has reached 59.57%, with the facility expected to accommodate more than 25 tenants.

The project is part of broader development in the zone, which has recorded investment of Rp1.9 trillion (about $111.8 million) as of December 2025, involving 14 tenants and employing 836 workers.

Officials said the facility is designed to support healthcare services, medical research and education, with specifications including biosafety level 2 standards and dedicated hazardous and non-toxic waste handling areas.

The Banten SEZ is projected to attract a total investment of up to Rp18.8 trillion (about $1.11 billion) over 20 years and create around 13,446 jobs.

In its first five years, the zone is expected to generate foreign exchange savings of Rp1.5 trillion (about $88.2 million) and foreign exchange earnings of Rp4.2 trillion (about $247.1 million).

Authorities said the development aims to position the area as an international healthcare and innovation hub, reducing outbound medical travel while strengthening domestic healthcare capacity.
