Mine inspectors from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) have completed their preliminary investigation of the recent underground training facility accident at PT Freeport Indonesia mine in Papua, and have issued several recommendations related to the company's operations.

?Based on these recommendations, maintenance activities are being performed in PT Freeport Indonesia underground operations and production is expected to be ramped up upon completion of inspections in coordination with government authorities,? the company said in a statement issued Wednesday.

?As of operations at the open pit mine and the mill we have restarted on May 28, 2013 and are slowly ramping up our operations,? the company added.

The company is assessing the impact on production and will provide an update when this assessment is completed. The collapse on May 14 of the underground training facility has killed 28 workers.
