MEMR extends C&C deadline

Friday, January 2 2015 - 06:15 AM WIB

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has extended the deadline for mining companies in 12 provinces to obtain clean and clear (C&C) status of their IUP mining permit to June 2015 from the initial target of end 2014, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Friday.

The paper quoted Director General of Mineral and Coal R. Sukhyar as saying that the ministry was giving more time for the mining offices in the 12 provinces to sort out the administrative mess in assessing the permits of the mining firms.

As of December 2014, there were a total of 10,918 IUP mining permits issued, of which about 6,000 permits have been declared as C&C, while the remainders have yet to obtain the status.

The government has previously threatened to revoke the IUP mining permits which fail to obtain the C&C status. Many of the mining permits have been saddled with various problems including overlapping of permits. (*)
