MEMR issues regulation on procedure to get mineral export recommendation

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik has issued Minister Regulation No 11/2014, detailing the procedure and requirements for mineral miners to obtain export recommendation.
The export recommendation from the ministry is necessary to obtain the final export approval from the Ministry of Trade, under tighter export regulations introduced by the government earlier this year in the wake of the mineral ore export ban policy.
According to the copy of the new regulation, mineral miners must fulfill a number of requirements to be able to obtain the export recommendation.
Before obtaining the export recommendation, the miners must first obtain recommendation from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) to obtain registered exporter status from the Ministry of Trade. The registered exporter status forms part of the requirements to apply for export recommendation letter with the Directorate General of Coal and Mineral at the MEMR.
Reports said on Friday that the MEMR is set to finally issue export recommendation for five mining firms including PT Freeport Indonesia and PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara, paving the way for the companies to resume export of mineral concentrates.
