MEMR, Korean institute to cooperate in biofuel development

Center for Research and Development of Electricity Technology and Renewable Energy (P3TEK EBTKE) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has reached an agreement with the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning (KETEP) for cooperation in the development of second generation biofuel such as bioethanol and biodiesel.

Head of P3TEK EBTKE, Adhi Wibowo told Petromindo.com on Thursday that the two will initially develop a pilot project at the location of P3TEK EBTKE office building in Gunung Sindur, Bogor, West Java Province. It will then be expanded to reach commercial scale.

The two started talks of possible cooperation in biofuel development in 2015, and the signed a MoU in 2016, he added, but did not provide further details about the planned project.
