MEMR recommends 42 coal miners to get registered exporter status

Based on the latest verification process, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has given recommendation to 42 coal mining companies to obtain registered exporter status from the Ministry of Trade (MoT), Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

The paper quoted Director for Coal Management and Development at the ministry Bambang Tjahjono as saying that of the 42 coal firms, 19 hold the coal contract of work or PKP2B permits, while the other 23 hold the IUP mining permits.

Among of the PKP2B coal miners recommended to get the exporter status are PT Kaltim Prima Coal, PT Adaro Indonesia, PT Berau Coal, PT Antang Gunung Meratus, PT Kideco Jaya Agung and PT Indominco Mandiri, Bambang said.

He added that the number will further increase as verification process of the various required documents to get the recommendation letter form the ministry continues. He said that his office has listed some 85 IUP coal mining firms to be recommended to get the exporter status.

The government has recently introduced a new ruling, to be effective September 1, coal export can only be made by exporters registered with the MoT. And to get the registered exporter status, the miners must first obtain recommendation letter from the MEMR. (*)
