As of mid of October, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has revoked 329 problematic IUP mining permits, Kontan reported on Thursday.

The total comprises of 282 IUP permits, and 47 so-called Production Operation IUP permits.

The 282 IUP permits which have been revoked are located in eight provinces including Bangka Belitung (8 IUPs), Jambi (141), South Sumatra (17), West Kalimantan (11), East Kalimantan (1), Central Sulawesi (85), Southeast Sulawesi (13), and North Maluku (6).

The ministry is waiting for further reports from other provinces regarding the problematic IUPs caused among others due to overlapping of permits. ?If by end of the year, the problematic IUPs have not been revoked by the local governments, we will consult with the House of Representatives on what action to be taken by the government,? said Director General of Mineral and Coal, R.
