The Ministry for Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) through its Center for Research and Development for Eletricity, New, Renewable and Energy Conservation (P3TK EBTKE) has now begun to offer routine maintenance service for solar power plants.
"The routine maintenance service for PLTS (solar power plants) is needed in order to avoid damages on civilian buildings, mechanical equipment, electricity as well as distribution system," said the Head of the research agency Sudjatmiko said.
The key components that require routine service are including solar panel, battery and solar charge controller (SCC) as well as inverter equipment.
The move was part of the energy ministry's drive to promote the utilization of solar energy in the country.
The research agency, given its adequate experts, will conduct maintenance service for every six months in order to prevent incidents that could put human's life in danger if the solar equipment do not operate correctly.
The maintenance service of solar energy is one of the technology public services provided by the MEMR Public Service Agency through the research and development agency.
Sudjatmiko said this year, the research and development agency team will perform maintenance service on a number of rooftop solar panels at a number of buildings and state-owned housing of the MEMR at 12 locations with total installed capacity of 213.14 kWp.
