The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) will seek the help of the Directorate General of State Assets at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to collect signature bonus which have yet to be paid by oil and gas production sharing contractors to the government after winning oil and gas block tenders.
This was said by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said during a hearing session with the House of Representatives Commission VII on energy and mining on Tuesday.
Sudirman said that in oil and gas block tender system prior to 2015, contractors were allowed to pay the signature bonus after signing contract for the block. But after 2015, the contractors are required to pay the signature bonus before signing the contract.
?If there are production sharing contractors which have yet to pay the signature bonus, we?ll hand it over to the Directorate (General of State Assets) at the Ministry of Finance,? he said, but did not disclose the name of the contractors and the amount overdue.
Director General of Oil and Gas at the ministry, IGN Wiratmaja Puja said that his office will submit to the House the list of contractors which have yet to pay the signature bonus.
