MEMR sets up team to oversee mining contract conversion

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has set up a team to oversee the process of conversion of mining contract of work (KK) into special mining business license (IUPK) to be in line with the 2009 Mining Law, Kontan reported Saturday.
The paper quoted Secretary General of the ministry Teguh Pamudji as saying that the team is led by Director General of Mineral and Coal Bambang Gatot Ariyono.
Teguh said the KK can only be converted into IUPK once it expires.
He cited as an example PT Freeport Indonesia can't convert its KK into IUPK prior to its expiry in 2021.(*)
