MEMR ties up with police to monitor subsidized fuel distribution

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has signed joint agreement with the National Police and Home Affairs Ministry to supervise the distribution of subsidized fuel and certain type of fuels.

"As a vital commodity which affects the lives of many people, the government is obliged to guarantee the availability and smooth distribution of fuel as mandated by the Oil and Gas Law," said ESDM Minister Arifin Tasrif on Thursday after the signing deal. He said the monitor will be focused on diesel fuel and certain of fuels so that the distribution can reach the target and at the right volume, in particular during national festivities.

Police Chief Idham said the Police is committed to assure that the distribution of these fuel types can be effective. To so, the Police will set up special task for assisting the government in the distribution of such fuels.

The above cooperation was decided given the fact that in 2019, the distribution of subsidized and certain type of fuels to certain areas were higher than quota.
