The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will eliminate the Special Production Operation IUP permit for transport and sales of mining products as part of efforts to streamline mining permitting procedures.
Director General of Mineral and Coal R. Sukhyar said recently that miners will no longer have to get a separate license to carry out transport and sales activities as the general IUP mining permit they have is already sufficient.
He said that Minister Regulation No 23/2011 will be revised to accommodate the changes in the permit procedure.
As has been previously reported in this portal, the MEMR planned to simplify permitting procedure in the country?s coal and mineral mining sector in a bid to help cut down red tapes and inefficiency. According to data from the MEMR, there are at least 360 coal sellers and buyers associated with this special permit.
