MEMR to focus on 5 key projects in 2024

Minister of Energy Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif unveils five key and major projects to be undertaken and closely monitored by the Ministry in the period of 2020-2024.
The five key projects are electricity infrastructure, refinery project to produce biofuel, development of refineries and city gas network (Jargas) as well as the development of smelters.
Arifin said during a hearing with the House Commission VII on Monday (27/01) that the government will push for the development of Refinery Unit (RU) III Plaju to produce biofuel with capacity of 20 mbopd which is completed in 2022.
The other projects are grass root refinery (GRR) Tuban with capacity of 300 mbopd as well as GRR Bontang with capacity of 300 mbopd. The two refineries are projected to be completed in 2026.
"GRR Bontang is still in the process of talks with new potential investor," said Minister Arifin.

The MEMR will also push Pertamina to carry on the four Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) projects, namely RDMP Balikpapan with capacity of 100 mbopd, the phase I of which is scheduled to be completed in 2023 and phase II in 2025; RDMP Balongan with capacity of 100 mbopd, the phase I of which is scheduled to be completed in 2022 and phase II in 2025.
In addition, Pertamina is also developing RDMP Cilacap with capacity of 52 mboped which is targeted to be completed in 2025 and RDMP Dumai with capacity of 100 mbopd, scheduled to be completed in 2026.
The goverment is alo aims to connect 4 million households with city gas network by 2024, consisting of 316,070 households (SR units) in 2020, 733,930 SR in 2021, 839,555 SR units in 2022 and 800,000 SR units in 2023.
The energy ministry will also push for the development of electricity infrastructure, consisting of power plants, substations, transmissions as well as 52 smelter projects by 2023.
