Medco E&P Indonesia, the operator of Lirik block onshore Riau province, resumed its operation in the block at 02:00 PM Tuesday after protesting local residents agreed to end the blockade, an official at oil and gas upstream regulator BPMIGAS said.
?All negotiating parties have agreed to set a meeting with BPMIGAS and MEPI head officers in the second week of April in Jakarta,? an officer at BPMIGAS in Riau Jatmiko told Petromindo.Com.
Jatmiko also said the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Finance officers together with the Palalawan regency officers will join the meeting.
The Lirik field, which is located in Palalawan regency, produces oil of around 1,700 barrels per day.
Oil production at the field was forced to stop after local residents blockaded the field on Tuesday morning demanding MEPI to hand over the field?s road to the local government. (godang)
