Mercator starts Indonesian coal mining ops

Indian shipping firm Mercator lines Limited said on Wednesday that its coal mining operations in Indonesia have started and currently the first consignment is under loading.

The company did not give detail.

The company said in May 14, 2008 it had acquired an economic interest in two coal licenses in Indonesia. The company did not give the exact location of the mine, but said that coal resources at the licenses are 15 million tones. (alex)
